Submit a request to move Toronto Hydro assets.
Steps involved in the service relocation request process (for projects completed by Toronto Hydro resources)
Fill out and submit your service request through our Service Relocation Request Online Form.
When doing so, please upload any relevant drawings and clearly indicate conflicting assets and construction limitations. Please also include the following information:
- Project sponsor's contact name, address and telephone number(s)
- Contractor and/or agent contact information (if one is working on your behalf)
- Project details and proposed timeline
We recommend providing us with all relevant documentation at the time of your online submission to help prevent any delays in processing. In the event that documents are unavailable at the time of submission, they can also be submitted at a later date directly to your assigned Toronto Hydro representative, as they become available.
One of our representatives will contact you within 15 business days to review your project details and confirm the scope of work. Then, we’ll request a design pre-payment that must be paid prior to beginning design work. The design pre-payment is a deposit that enables us to perform preliminary assessments for your request. This design pre-payment will be credited towards your financial obligations for the project.
The design pre-payment can be refunded at your request at any time, in the event that you choose to not proceed with your request. If a refund is requested, all funds minus any resources spent on the assessment will be returned to the payee.
Once we’ve received the design pre-payment, we’ll collect any additional details needed in order to complete the design. Meetings and site visits may be required. Then, we’ll provide a Job Quotation that specifies the project details, timelines and financial requirements in order to proceed with the service request.
Sign and return the Job Quotation through email to projectpayments@torontohydro.com, along with all required payments and information, as instructed in the “General Payment Instructions” section of the Job Quotation.
You or your general contractor will need to complete all applicable civil and electrical construction on your property as per the layouts and instructions provided by Toronto Hydro, and make sure the site is safe for us to begin our work.
We’ll schedule and facilitate the detailed design and construction of the hydro utility work. We’ll also periodically keep you informed of project progress.
Note: Toronto Hydro may change any part of this process at its sole discretion.

Once the design pre-payment is received, we may need to collect additional details through meetings and/or a site visit to confirm if a Coordination Agreement is needed.
If we determine that a Coordination Agreement is necessary in order to complete the project, we’ll prepare and issue one for you to sign and return to us, along with all other specified deliverables attached, as per the Coordination Agreement.

Upon receipt of all satisfactory deliverables, we’ll sign the Coordination Agreement and provide a copy for your records within 20 business days.
Once the Coordination Agreement is executed, you may hire one or more contractor(s) on the list of approved contractors within the Coordination Agreement. Then, we’ll schedule a mandatory kick-off meeting with the applicant and the hired approved contractor.
Please refer to the Coordination Agreement for the four stages of design review.
Once we’ve signed off on all relevant designs and all necessary permits have been attained, construction may begin.
After construction is complete, we’ll audit and inspect all construction work done by the contractor and determine whether it’s acceptable as per the Coordination Agreement schedules.
Upon completion and acceptance of the utility work, you’ll need provide us with complete as-built drawings and warranties, as specified in the Coordination Agreement. This is standard documentation developed by the hired third-party consultant or contractor.
After the as-builts and warranties are received, we’ll invoice the applicant to settle all the financial accounts for the project.
