Permanent service disconnection request
Submit your request to permanently disconnect a Toronto Hydro service address.
Steps involved in the permanent service disconnection request process
Fill out and submit your service request through our Permanent Service Disconnection Online Form.
When filling out the online form, you’ll be asked to select your requested disconnection date. However, please note that your final appointment date and time will be confirmed by your Toronto Hydro representative through email after receiving the required documentation and payment (if applicable).
We recommend providing us with all relevant documentation at the time of your online submission to help prevent any delays in processing (e.g. demolition permit, if applicable). In the event that documents are unavailable at the time of submission, they can also be submitted at a later date directly to your assigned Toronto Hydro representative, as they become available.
One of our representatives will contact you within 15 business days to review your project details and confirm the scope of work. Then, we may request a design pre-payment that must be paid prior to beginning design work. The design pre-payment is a deposit that enables us to perform preliminary assessments for your request. This design pre-payment will be credited towards your financial obligations for the project.
The design pre-payment can be refunded at your request at any time, in the event that you choose to not proceed with your request. If a refund is requested, all funds minus any resources spent on the assessment will be returned to the payee.
Once we receive all of the required project information, a representative will provide you with a Job Quotation and Service Removal Request Form for signature.
The Job Quotation specifies the project details, timelines and financial requirements (if applicable) to proceed with your permanent service disconnection request. The Service Removal Request Form authorizes us to permanently disconnect power and remove service.
Sign and return the Job Quotation (along with all required payments and information), and the Service Removal Request Form, as instructed in the documents. Payment must be submitted in full to Toronto Hydro before the disconnection appointment can be confirmed.
Note: Depending on your project, we may also require a City of Toronto demolition permit in order to proceed with your request.
Once payment and signed consent is received, your assigned representative will contact you to confirm your disconnection appointment date and time.
On your scheduled service disconnection date, Toronto Hydro crews will permanently disconnect your power and remove service, as requested.
Note: Toronto Hydro may change any part of this process at its sole discretion.
