Before we begin…
Please note that we're only liable for any damages that arise directly out of the wilful misconduct or negligence of Toronto Hydro.
If we're responsible for your loss, we'll take immediate steps to compensate you. To evaluate your claim, we need to determine:
- How the incident occurred
- The extent of Toronto Hydro's negligence or wilful misconduct
- The extent of the damages
- What the law considers fair compensation
Please note that in accordance with the Limitations Act, 2002 you have two years from the date of loss in which to file a claim with the Courts. Your notice letter does not fulfill your obligations under the Limitations Act, 2002.
Any damage to your property can be upsetting and disruptive, however, it's important to know that Toronto Hydro is not your insurer.
If you have auto or property insurance, we suggest you consult your insurance company or broker first for advice on how to deal with your loss. Your insurance coverage may be more extensive than what you can recover from Toronto Hydro.
