1. Sponsor
The NATIONAL HOME SHOW TICKET GIVEAWAY (the “Contest”) is sponsored by Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited, 14 Carlton Street, Toronto, Ontario M5B 1K5 (“Sponsor” or “Toronto Hydro”).
The Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Instagram and Meta Platforms, Inc. (“Instagram”) or by Toronto Home Shows LP. Any and all information provided in this Contest, including but not limited to any personal information, is provided to Sponsor and not Instagram and will only be used for the administration of this Contest and in accordance with the Sponsor’s privacy policy (see below). Instagram is completely released from all liability by each entrant/participant in this Contest. Any questions, comments or complaints regarding the Contest must be directed to the Sponsor and not Instagram.
2. Eligibility
This Contest is open to legal residents of the City of Toronto in the Province of Ontario, who are eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of entry, with the exception of employees of the Sponsor, its parent, related and affiliated companies, subsidiaries, departments or agencies, franchisees, suppliers, advertising and promotional agencies, contest administrators, and any other parties engaged in the development, production or distribution of Contest materials, and those living in the same household. By participating in this Contest, entrants acknowledge compliance with, and agree to be bound by, these Contest Rules. Entrants who do not comply with any of the Contest Rules are subject to disqualification by the Sponsor, in Sponsor’s sole discretion, at any time.
3. Contest dates and times
The Contest begins on February 27, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. EST and ends on March 4, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. EST (the “Contest Period”) after which time the Contest will be closed and no further entries will be accepted.
4. How to enter
- NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.
- To participate in this Contest, entrants must have a valid Instagram account. Entrants may only use one (1) Instagram account (the “Account”) to participate in this Contest.
- In order to enter the Contest, the entrant(s) must be following the official Toronto Hydro channel on Instagram (@torontohydro) (the “Channel”) (Note: entrants may un-follow the Channel(s) at any time).
- To become a follower, an eligible entrant must: (i) visit www.instagram.comOR (ii) from entrant’s Instagram home page, click on the "Search" tab and perform a search for "@torontohydro” AND (iii) click on the "Follow" button corresponding to the Channel.
- During the Contest Period, the entrant can enter the Contest by following the official Toronto Hydro Channel on Instagram using their respective Account and following the directions on the Contest post to:
- Like; and
- Tag a friend in the comment;
There is a limit of one (1) Submission per person. - To be eligible, the entrant’s Submission must be in accordance with the specific Submission Requirements listed below in Rule 5.
- Any Submission that does not follow the requirements set out in subsection 4(b.), 4(c.), and 4(e.) above, or as otherwise set out in these Contest Rules, as determined by the Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion, will be discarded and will not be eligible for entry in this Contest.
- An entrant will receive one (1) entry (each an “Entry” and collectively, the “Entries”) in the random prize draw when they complete a Submission in accordance with the requirements set out in subsection 4(b.), 4(c.), and 4(e.) above, or as otherwise set out in these Contest Rules. There is a limit of one (1) Submission per person.
- Without limiting the generality of the foregoing and for greater certainty, only entrants who submit an eligible Submission/Entry in accordance with the requirements set out above, or as otherwise set out in these Contest Rules, will be considered to have submitted an “Eligible Entry” (collectively referred to herein as “Eligible Entries”) and be eligible to win.
- For greater certainty and the avoidance of any doubt, an entrant may submit only one (1) Submission/Entry on Instagram to participate in the Contest). If it is discovered by the Sponsor, using any evidence or other information made available to or otherwise discovered by the Sponsor, that any person has attempted to: (i) obtain more than one (1) Entry during the Contest Period; and/or (ii) use, or attempt to use, multiple names, identities, email addresses, or create multiple Instagram Accounts and/or any automated, macro, script, robotic or other system(s) or program(s) to enter or otherwise participate in or disrupt this Contest; then they may be disqualified from the Contest in the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsor.
- A Submission will be considered void and not be counted as an Entry if it: (i) contains false or incomplete information; (ii) the Submission is late, lost, stolen, illegible, contains false information, is damaged, misdirected, mutilated, garbled or incomplete, altered or otherwise irregular or that does not conform with or satisfy any or all of the conditions of the Contest Rules; (iii) does not comply with the applicable terms of service, rules, policies and guidelines of Instagram; and/or (iv) is not in accordance with the specific Submission Requirements listed below in Rule 5, all as determined by Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion. Toronto Hydro is not responsible for contacting entrants who provide unclear or incomplete information and assumes no responsibility for Submissions that are delayed or misdirected during the Contest Period, including any failure to receive an Entry as a result of technical problems. The Released Parties (as defined below) are not responsible for any Submission or Entry which is considered to be void in accordance with these Contest Rules.
- Standard text messaging and/or data rates apply to entrants who enter a Submission via a wireless mobile device. Wireless service providers may charge for airtime for each standard text message sent and received. Please call your service provider for pricing and service plan information and rates before mobile device participation.
- All Submissions are subject to verification at any time and for any reason. The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to require proof of identity and/or eligibility, in a form acceptable to the Sponsor, including, without limitation, government issued photo identification: (i) for the purposes of verifying an individual’s eligibility to participate in this Contest; (ii) for the purposes of verifying the eligibility and/or legitimacy of any Submission entered (or purportedly entered) for the purposes of this Contest; and/or (iii) for any other reason the Sponsor deems necessary, in its sole and absolute discretion, for the purposes of administering this Contest in accordance with these Contest Rules. Failure to provide such proof to the satisfaction of the Sponsor in a timely manner may result in disqualification in the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsor. The sole determinant of the time for the purposes of a valid Submission in this Contest will be the Contest server machine(s).
5. Submission requirements
BY ENTERING A SUBMISSION, YOU AGREE THAT THE SUBMISSION COMPLIES WITH ALL CONDITIONS STATED IN THESE CONTEST RULES AND THE APPLICABLE TERMS OF SERVICE, RULES, POLICIES, AND GUIDELINES OF INSTAGRAM. THE RELEASED PARTIES (AS DEFINED BELOW) WILL BEAR NO LEGAL LIABILITY REGARDING THE USE OF ANY SUBMISSION ENTERED BY YOU. THE RELEASED PARTIES (AS DEFINED BELOW) SHALL BE HELD HARMLESS BY YOU IN THE EVENT IT IS SUBSEQUENTLY DISCOVERED THAT YOU HAVE DEPARTED FROM OR NOT FULLY COMPLIED WITH ANY OF THESE CONTEST RULES.
By entering a Submission/Entry, each entrant acknowledges and agrees that Sponsor may obtain many Submissions in connection with this Contest and/or other promotions staged and/or promoted by Sponsor, and that such Submissions/Entries may be similar or identical in theme, idea, format or other respects to other Submissions/Entries made in connection with this Contest and/or other promotions promoted by Sponsor or submitted for other reasons, or to other materials developed by Sponsor. Each entrant waives any and all claims that any Submission/Entry and/or other works accepted, reviewed and/or used may be similar, or that any compensation is due to any entrant in connection with such Submission/Entry or other works used by Sponsor.
By participating in the Contest, each entrant hereby warrants and represents that their Submission:
- is original to the entrant and that the entrant has obtained all necessary rights for the purposes of entering the Submission in the Contest;
- does not violate any law, statute, ordinance or regulation;
- does not contain any reference to or likeness of any identifiable third parties;
- will not give rise to any claims of infringement, invasion of privacy or publicity, or infringe on any rights and/or interests of any third party, or give rise to any claims whatsoever; and
- is not defamatory, trade libelous, pornographic or obscene, and further that it will not contain, include, discuss or involve, without limitation, any of the following: nudity; alcohol/drug consumption or smoking; explicit or graphic sexual activity, or sexual innuendo; crude, vulgar or offensive language and/or symbols; derogatory characterizations of any ethnic, racial, sexual, religious or other groups; content that endorses, condones and/or discusses any illegal, inappropriate or risky behaviour or conduct; personal information of individuals, including, without limitation, names, telephone numbers and addresses (physical or electronic); commercial messages, comparisons or solicitations for products or services other than products of Sponsor; any identifiable third party products, trade-marks, brands and/or logos, other than those of Sponsor; conduct or other activities in violation of these Rules; and/or any other content that is or could be considered inappropriate, unsuitable or offensive, all as determined by the Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion.
For greater certainty and the avoidance of any doubt, the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion and at any time, to modify, edit or disqualify any Submission if a complaint is received with respect to the Submission, or for any other reason. If such an action is necessary at any point, then the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to disqualify the Submission, and corresponding Entry, and/or the associated entrant.
6. Contest prizes
There is a total of ten (10) prizes available to be won by ten (10) separate Selected Entrants (as defined below), as follows:
- Five (5) general admission tickets to the National Home Show (approximate retail value: total of one hundred dollars ($100)), which will take place on March 6, 2026, to March 15, 2026. Prizes will be delivered electronically.
All winners assume any and all liability for any injury or damage caused, or claimed to be caused, by entering, participating in this Contest, or the use or redemption of a prize. Prizes must be accepted as awarded. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute an alternate prize of equal or greater value if an advertised prize is unavailable at the time of award, including, without limitation but at the Sponsor’s sole discretion, a cash award. A prize will only be awarded to the person who is verified as the person assigned to the Instagram Account associated with the selected Entry in question.
7. Odds of winning
The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible Entries received before the end of the Contest Period.
8. Skill-testing question
Selected Entrants will be required, as a condition of winning a prize, to correctly answer, without assistance of any kind, the Sponsor’s time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question to be administered by through the Winner’s Release. Without limiting the generality of the forgoing, the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to administer an alternate test of skill as it deems appropriate based on the circumstances and/or to comply with applicable law.
9. Winner selection and confirmation
On March 5, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. EST at the offices of the Sponsor at 14 Carlton Street, Toronto, Ontario, Canada M5B 1K5 (the “Draw Date”) the Sponsor, or an employee, agent or other representative of the Sponsor, will conduct a random draw using a third party social media contest winner randomizing service chosen by the Sponsor at its sole discretion from all eligible Entries received before the end of the Contest Period and select the potential winners (“Selected Entrants”).
Selected Entrants will be deemed winners if they meet all of the eligibility criteria set out in these Contest Rules. If a Selected Entrant does not meet the eligibility criteria, they will be disqualified and will not receive a prize and another entrant will be selected by way of a random draw from the remaining eligible Entries. For greater certainty, despite all Entries being included in the random draw, only those that qualify as eligible Entries, as further defined in subsection 4(f) above, are eligible of being selected as a Selected Entrant. If an Entry drawn at random does not meet the criteria for an eligible Entry, as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion, the entrant who submitted that Entry will not be declared a winner and will not receive a prize, and an additional random draw will be conducted by the Sponsor in the same manner as described above until an eligible Entry is drawn, and the corresponding Selected Entrant is selected as a potential winner.
Before being declared a winner, Selected Entrants will be required to: (i) correctly answer the Sponsor’s skill-testing question; (ii) sign and return the Sponsor’s Declaration of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity Release form (“Winner Release”) within five (5) business days of receipt of Sponsor’s Winner Release form; and (iii) comply with all other Contest Rules, all in the sole discretion of Sponsor.
Selected Entrants will be notified one business day following the end of the Contest and will be contacted using a personalized message and/or @reply to the Instagram Account used to submit the corresponding selected Entry. The Sponsor or its designated representative will make a minimum of two (2) attempts to contact the Selected Entrant in the manner described above within three (3) business days of the Contest end date. If the Selected Entrant cannot be contacted within three (3) business days of the Contest end date, or if there is a return of any notification as undeliverable then the Selected Entrant may, in the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsor, be disqualified and forfeit all rights to the prize, and the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion and time permitting, to randomly select a new alternate eligible Selected Entrant from among the remaining eligible Entries, in which case the foregoing provisions of this section shall apply to such newly Selected Entrant. Sponsor is not responsible for the failure for any reason whatsoever of a Selected Entrant to receive notification or for the Sponsor to receive a Selected Entrant’s response.
No correspondence will be entered into except with Selected Entrants. Proof of transmission (for example, screenshots or captures) does not constitute proof of Entry or receipt of an Entry.
Disputes regarding identity of entrant: if the identity of a Selected Entrant is disputed, the Entry will be deemed to have been submitted by the individual assigned to the Instagram Account associated with the selected Entry in question (the “Authorized Account Holder”). Each Selected Entrant may be required to provide proof in a form acceptable to the Sponsor, including, without limitation government issued photo identification, that they are the Authorized Account Holder associated with a selected Entry.
10. Release and indemnification
All winners must sign the Sponsor’s Winner Release to:
- confirm compliance with all Contest Rules;
- agree to accept prizes as awarded;
- release, discharge and hold harmless the Sponsor, its departments and agencies, parent, related and affiliated companies, subsidiaries, franchisees, advertising and promotional agencies, counsel, marketing partners, Instagram, and each of their respective directors, officers, employees, shareholders, successors, sponsors, partners, licensees, subsidiaries, agents, artists, advisors, assignees, and all others associated with the administration, development and execution of the Contest (“Released Parties”) from and against any and all manner of action, cause of action, claim or demand, loss or injury, suit, debt, covenant, contract, including legal fees and expenses, whatsoever, including but not limited to claims based on: negligence; breach of contract and fundamental breach; use or misuse of a prize or any travel related thereto; the use of Entries by the Sponsor; failure of any third-party contractor or supplier used in connection with any aspect of the Contest to perform or deliver any goods or services; any act of God or any other event beyond the Released Parties’ control; any dissatisfaction of any kind by a winner, or their parent(s) or legal guardian(s), with any aspect of the Contest or any prize; liability for physical injury, death, or property damage which the entrants, or their parent(s) or legal guardian(s), guests, their heirs, successors or assigns have, might have or could have suffered, by reason of or arising out of the entrant’s participation in the Contest and/or in connection with the acceptance and/or exercise by the entrants, of prizes as awarded;
- indemnify the Released Parties against any loss, damage or expense, including legal fees, that any of the Released Parties may suffer or incur as a result of any non-compliance by entrants with any of the Contest Rules or participation in the Contest and/or in connection with the acceptance and/or exercise by an entrant of a prize, and the use of entries by the Sponsor;
- consent to the Sponsor collecting, using, and disclosing the winner’s personal information for the purpose of administering this Contest, as described in the Contest Rules and in accordance with Sponsor’s Privacy Policy; and
- agree to the publication, reproduction and/or other use of their name, address, voice, statements about the Contest and/or photograph or other likeness without further notice or compensation, in any publicity or advertisement carried out by or on behalf of the Sponsor in any manner whatsoever, including print, broadcast or the internet, including the publishing of their name on Instagram.
The Sponsor is not responsible for: (i) incorrect or inaccurate Entry information that may affect a person’s ability to participate in the Contest or be awarded a prize, including but not limited to human error, technical malfunctions, lost or delayed Entries for any reason, mail failures, omission, or any combination thereof, and Entries that fail to fully comply with these Contest Rules; (ii) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines, websites or network hardware or software; (iii) lost, incomplete, delayed, mutilated or misdirected Entries or Winner Releases; (iv) injury or damage to entrants’ computers or to any other individual’s computer related to or resulting from participating in, or downloading any material regarding the Contest or accepting a prize; (v) the security or privacy of information transmitted via computer networks or for breaches of privacy due to interference by third-party computer hackers or otherwise; or (vi) late, lost, misdirected or unsuccessful efforts to notify a Selected Entrant.
11. Other conditions
The decisions of the Sponsor with respect to all aspects of this Contest are final and binding on all entrants without right of appeal, including, without limitation, any decisions regarding the eligibility/disqualification of Entries and/or entrants. By participating in this Contest, you are agreeing to be legally bound by the terms and conditions of these Contest Rules. In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the terms and conditions of these Contest Rules and disclosures or other statements contained in any Contest-related materials, including, but not limited to television, print or online advertising, the terms and conditions of these Contest Rules shall prevail, govern and control to the fullest extent permitted by law.
12. Publicity and entrant information.
By participating in the Contest, each entrant expressly consents to the Sponsor, its agents and/or representatives storing, sharing and using any personal information submitted with their Submission and/or Entry only for the purpose of administering the Contest and in accordance with Sponsor’s privacy policy, including but not limited to the use of the entrant’s name, address, email address, postal code, telephone number, social media handle(s), comments and image, whether on videotape, photograph or any other means, for the administration of the Contest or any publicity carried out by the Sponsor, without further notice or compensation.
Any other consent that the entrant has given to the Sponsor to receive commercial electronic messages which are currently in effect, and unrelated to this Contest, shall not be affected by the request for consent made pursuant to this Contest.
13. Law
The Contest is void where prohibited by law and is subject to all applicable Canadian federal, provincial, territorial, municipal and local laws. This Contest shall be governed exclusively by the laws of the Province of Ontario, including all issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Contest Rules, rights and obligations between entrants and the Sponsor, and procedural provisions, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules. Any dispute shall be adjudicated by the courts sitting in Toronto, Ontario.
14. Rule amendments
The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to amend or modify these Contest Rules, or modify, cancel or suspend this Contest, without prior notice for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation in the event that any cause beyond the reasonable control of the Sponsor corrupts, or threatens to corrupt, the security or proper administration of the Contest. Without limiting the foregoing, if, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as originally planned for any reason, the Sponsor reserves the right to cancel the Contest and conduct a random draw from all previously received eligible Entries received by the end of the Contest Period.
15. License and intellectual property
By entering the Contest and entering a Submission, each entrant: (i) without limiting the applicable terms of service, rules, policies and guidelines of Instagram grants to the Sponsor, in perpetuity, a non-exclusive license to publish, display, reproduce, modify, edit or otherwise use their Submission, in whole or in part, for advertising or promoting the Contest or for any other reason; (ii) waives all moral rights in and to their Submission in favour of the Sponsor; and (iii) agrees to release and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any and all claims based on publicity rights, defamation, invasion of privacy, copyright infringement, trade-mark infringement or any other intellectual property related cause of action that relate in any way to the Submission.
All intellectual property of the Sponsor, including but not limited to trademarks, logos, designs, promotional materials, web pages, source codes, images, drawings, illustrations, slogans and representations are owned by the Sponsor. All rights reserved. Unauthorized copying or use of any of the Sponsor’s intellectual property without the express written consent of the Sponsor is strictly prohibited.
